Victorian Burr Walnut Oval Top Loo Table With Carved Solid Walnut Base. It’s oval shaped top is finished with burr walnut veneers, and the walnut veneered apron is finished with cockbeaded edging. The reverse side of the top is solid mahogany. The top can be tilted in an upright position when it’s not in use, and when it’s laid flat it’s secured to the substantial platform top of the base by an original brass catch. The nicely fashioned walnut base consists of 4 well turned columns and 4 neatly carved legs which are positioned around a walnut veneered platform. The circular top of the platform features a solid walnut disc with well turned centre finial, while the legs terminate in non original pad feet. The condition is generally good, however there are age related marks of use to mention, including marks and fading in the top. There are also some rubs, scuffs and dings around the edges of the top and also around the base and legs. There’s a veneer repair in the centre of the top and also at the middle outside edge of the top. There is also a veneer repair in one side of the apron. There’s a dark area of the top (pictured in a close up) where the veneer has lifted and bubbled, and there is also some loss of veneer in that area too. There’s an age related shrinkage crack through the centre of the top which has been repaired at some stage, and 2 square panels have been fitted to the reverse side of the top to counter the shrinkage. 1 of the circular wooden screw hole caps is missing from the underside of the apron. It’s also priced in accordance with the condition. The height measures 28 1/4 inches. The height with the top positioned upright measures 52 1/2 inches. The width of the top measures 40 1/4 inches.
