For over 40 years I have worked with antiques, specialising in 17th and 18th century British furniture with a particular love of early walnut. Our family name was Webberley and in the 18th and 19th centuries many Webberley men worked as cabinet makers and coach builders. Henry Webberley-Smith built one of Queen Victoria’s carriages and it is still used by the British Royal family today. When I was able to open my first shop it seemed right for it to carry that name. 18th Century Yew Wood Tilt Top Wine Table. In excellent and original condition, this is a beautiful late 18th century tilt top table in solid yew wood which has developed a truly fabulous colour. The table is heavy and robust, the top opens smoothly and locks with a simple iron flat plate latch, top and base are original to each other and the table is level and sturdy. Some old worm holes here and there (long dead and not impacting structure) some small losses and bruises. An extremely rare and early table in beautiful yew wood. Dimensions are: 27.25 inches wide by 26.75 inches deep. Height from floor is 27.25 inches. Height when table is tilted is 43 inches. For metric please multiply by 2.5.
